Food So Good it’s Almost Illegal

Because I know you count on me to keep you updated on Atlanta restaurant news, I’m pleased to report the opening of Illegal Food’s first full-service restaurant is scheduled for early December 2014 in Virginia Highlands, in the former Bar Meatball space on Greenwood Avenue. And don’t worry, Illegal Food will continue to serve its iconic, critically-acclaimed burgers — including “The Hank” — in addition to a full menu comprised of appetizers, sandwiches, entrées, desserts and a custom cocktail program.

“We are really looking forward to opening our new restaurant and having the opportunity to show our customers more of what Illegal Food is about,” Executive Chef and Co-Owner Steven Lingenfelter said. “We aim to serve the best food made from scratch while delivering top-notch service in an inviting atmosphere.”

With its new full-service restaurant, Illegal Food will also provide its own contemporary Southern twist on classic cocktails and a craft beer program. Lingenfelter, a Kentucky native, will introduce a wide selection of bourbons to the cocktail menu as both tasting bourbons and key influences for the cocktails themselves. Well I say ‘CHEERS’ to that!

Illegal Food anticipates opening at 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and will begin at 11 a.m. for lunch and dinner service on Saturday and Sunday. The restaurant will be closed on Mondays.
