On a recent sunny summer afternoon, a friend and I enjoyed a beyond delicious lunch, in a stunningly beautiful and relaxing atmosphere. Allow me to share with you the details of this gem of a restaurant: Portico Global Cuisine, located in the Le Méridien Atlanta Perimeter hotel.
Portico offers globally inspired culinary delights – a mix of seasonal ingredients with a contemporary take on classic European fare from Executive Chef, Alejandro Rojas. The restaurants itself is a feast for the senses. With massive window walls letting in glorious natural light and an enticing modern design by The Gettys Group of Chicago, you’ll feel right at home while dining in complete sophistication.
Our meal began with the Fig & Prosciutto Flatbread, a layered delight of herb goat cheese, Mizuna (an Asian green), Tupelo honey, and roasted garlic. With every bite this flatbread offered a multitude of flavors and textures. Let me just say this would make a lovely snack with a glass of wine out on Portico’s charming terrace. They offer a wonderful wine list!
Next we split the Chicken Club sandwich, which arrived on grilled sourdough bread, bursting with applewood smoked bacon goodness and a few slices of creamy avocado. It’s normally served with a fried egg, but we nixed that as I’m not an egg person. Splitting the sandwich was perfect as it allow us to also enjoy the Spinach Salad, consisting of baby spinach, compressed watermelon, marinated Feta, and the house made Sugarcane Vinaigrette. have those options available and desire a similar flavor and texture.) The flavors in the salad were bold and memorable. The flavors in the salad were bold and memorable. Enough to make me want to recreate it at home! (FYI: compressed watermelon is usually made in avacuum sealer or sous-vide machine. Try this recipe if you don’t have those options available and desire a similar flavor and texture.)
If you’ve not visited the Le Meridien Atlanta Perimeter hotel, it is a delightful spot for out of town guests or for your own stay-cation! The property boasts clean lines and a relaxed yet chic atmosphere you’ll want to savor. Le Meridien offers, The Gettys Group describes it, ‘a fresh contemporary style with a nod to mid-century modern.’
It’s definitely worth checking out. And checking in!
